DAVAO City Acting Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte on Tuesday urged his father Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte not to retire from politics just yet amid the persistent campaigns urging him to run for president in 2016.

"Ayaw sa ug resign diha, Pa. Humana imong nine years ug kaya pa. Estudyante pa ta aning politika bisag pila na ta katuig ani diri. Everyday, studyante gihapon ta (Do not resign, Pa. Continue with your nine years of service as the city mayor. We all remain students in this political world no matter how long we have already served)," Duterte said during his weekly Pulong-pulong ni Pulong (PPP) Tuesday morning at the Barangay Hall of Catalunan Grande.

His father earlier manifested to resign should his supporters here continue with their "Rody Duterte for President Movement."

The elder Duterte had already turned down calls for him to run as president, saying he is not qualified and does not have enough money to fund his campaign.

His son Paolo said it's up to his father should he run or not.

"Nagpasalamat na lang pud ko sa suporta sa mga kapitan. Pero pag bantay mo basig dili na mo hatagan ug pinaskuhan ni Mayor Rody (I thank all barangay captains who support him, but beware he might stop giving you allowance)," he said.

Last Saturday, hundreds of supporters joined "Rody Duterte for President Movement" rally held at the Rizal Park.
