Wednesday, March 26, 2014
THE Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao is set to commence the construction of its new office in Matina, Davao City.
Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao Rodolfo Elman, in a recent interview, said the proposed site for the construction of the new office will be behind the office of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Matina.
"Hopefully, we are able to start the construction within the third quarter of this year and we are expecting to start the operations in the regional office next year. In fact, we will have the ground blessing of our future site this Friday along with our Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales," Elman said.
He added that with the new office, they will be able to hasten their delivery of services to the public.
But while the new office is not yet operational, the deputy ombudsman for Mindanao noted that with the help of their public assistance center, they were able to render service to 697 requests for assistance in 2013.
"This office is responsible for offering immediate assistance to the public. There are times that some complaints lack information that is why the public assistance center takes the initiative of investigating and collecting the necessary information to verify the complaints. It also plays a role in mediation," Elman said.
The deputy ombudsman cited that due to the relocation of the public assistance center at the ground floor of the Herrera Bldg in Alvarez St., they have offered more convenience especially for the elderly complainants.
Ombudsman Morales is also set to grace the blessing of the new site of the public assistance center on Friday. (RSA)
