AROUND 1,000 policemen in Davao Region joined the Police Regional Office’s (PRO) fun run dubbed as "Takbo Para Kay Juana" at 4 a.m. Sunday.

PRO-Davao Region spokesperson Chief Inspector Jed Clamor said the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of Regional Investigations and Detective Management Division (WCPD–RIDMD) initiated the fun run in line with the celebration of the women’s month.

The fun run started at the Grandstand of Camp Quintin M. Merecido in Catitipan in Davao City at 4 a.m., then routed to Sun City Subdivision in Landmark in Buhangin, Carlos P. Garcia National Highway, then back at the camp.

Clamor, in a text message, said the activity aims to pay tribute to the investigators of the WCPD for their endeavor in ensuring the protection and attaining justice for the abused women. He added that women deserve to be lauded for their efforts.

With the theme "Juana, ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong,” the celebration pays tribute to the strong and resilient Filipinas, as represented by Juana dela Cruz, who brought inspiring changes.

Meanwhile, about 4,000 individuals joined the “Run of Peace 3” at Rotary Park in Tagum City, in line with the 117th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Army on March 22.

Army's 1003rd Brigade commander Colonel Harold Cabreros said their fun run was made possible through the initiative of the City Government of Tagum and members of the Philippine Army.

Cabreros said the Run of Peace 3 is the advocacy run for the benefits and support to the collaborative efforts to promote and intensify peace and development endeavors and encourage active participation and cooperation from various sectors.

"Our deepest gratitude to our partner stakeholders for supporting our Peace campaign, this activity is not just a call for more advocates but a proof that we are one and strong towards sustainable development in the realization of just and lasting peace," Cabreros said.
