Davao Region among PH best in case disposition

DAVAO Region has been listed as among the top performing prosecution offices in the country in 2013 after having the second best prosecution success percentage and posting the third best case disposition rate.

In a data presented by the Department of Justice (DOJ) through its National Prosecution Service, Davao Region Prosecution Office had a prosecution rate of 85.71, trailing behind the Northern Mindanao Regional Prosecution Office, which posted 85.77 percent.

Eastern Visayas came in third with a rate of 84.87 percent followed by Eastern Visayas who got 83.91 percent.


On the provincial and city levels, the Digos City Prosecution Office earned the top spot after having a perfect conviction rate while the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) Prosecution Office placed second with 93 percent.

Davao del Sur Provincial Prosecution Office and Davao City Prosecution Office occupied the third and fourth spot with 88.89 percent and 88.59 percent, respectively.

The Regional Prosecution Office of Davao also fared well in the disposition cases after placing third with a rate of 94.88 percent.

Ilocos region took the top with a case disposition rate of 97.94 percent followed by Central Visayas with 95.22 percent.

The Regional Prosecution Office, Davao Oriental Provincial Prosecution Office and Panabo City Prosecution Office were the top performers in the local level after the three offices had 100 percent disposition rates.

The City Prosecution Office of Mati and Digos, meanwhile, had 99.57 and 99.44 percent, respectively. The City Prosecution of Davao, however, placed last with a rate of 92.86 percent.

But while the data showed the percentage, no total number of cases filed, convictions and acquittals were presented.
