VISAYAS and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms due to a Low Pressure Area (LPA), the state weather bureau said.

In its weather update issued at 11 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was estimated at 470 kilometers east of Surigao City Thursday noon.

The weather bureau also advised the residents to take all the necessary precautionary measures.

Small seacrafts and fishing vessels were advised not to venture out into the sea due to the big waves.

"Strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of northeasterly surface windflow is expected to affect the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao," it stated.
