THREE people died while three others were wounded, including a child, after a cement mixer truck lost its brakes along Km. 5 in Matina Pangi, Davao City at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The truck hit a motorcycle, which stopped in the area, before it slammed a 10-wheeler truck.

According to reports obtained from the traffic section of the Talomo police, those killed in the accident were identified as Almerito Mamerto of Calumpang, General Santos City; motorcycle driver Samuel Yuson Ogano of Purok 4, Barangay Talomo Proper, and his passenger Jenny Gancan.

The wounded are yet to be identified as of press time, including the child who was also riding the motorcycle, a passenger of the mixer truck, and another passenger of the 10-wheeler truck with license plate LUC 574.

Two of the wounded were brought to Davao Adventist Hospital in Bangkal, while the other was brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

The vehicles involved were wrecked, making authorities unable to identify the plate numbers of the mixer truck and the motorcycle.

Talomo police station said that the mixer truck lost its brakes while going down towards the traffic lights on Diversion Road, and headed straight towards the motorcycle and went through a 10-wheeler truck.

It was revealed that those riding the motorcycle, Ogano and Gancan, were thrown some 50 meters away from where they were.

The bodies were brought to Collado Funeral Parlor in Bangkal.

The traffic section of Talomo is conducting further investigation of the incident. (Jeepy Compio/Wenz G. mendoza)
