AFTER an entire day of sorting out lawsuits against the illegal drug suspects arrested in the raid at Barangay Ilang, Tibungco, Davao City last Friday, authorities on Monday have narrowed down the number of plaintiffs before the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO) to 29.

The suspects sued by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao (PDEA 11) remained at eight while the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao (CIDG 11) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) cut down their list to 12 and nine, respectively. READ: 7 killed, 35 nabbed in Davao raid

Charged for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 under the list of PDEA 11 are Korean national Ki Chul Kwak, Hasmal Sahisan, Wahid Sahili, Angie Pantayon, Khasmer Nassal, Reagan Arpa, Ma. Luisa Geongo and a minor only identified as alias Ai-Ai.

CIDG 11, meanwhile, filed charges against Rommel Maujen, Johnny Solo, Arola Yacob, Abbas Taung, Rowena Quiyam, Alado Yacob, Abra Jimlani, Mico Casim, Nestor Yacob, Mumar Yacob, Aksal Salahi and Abdul Usman.

DCPO, for their part, charged Sitty Igasan, Marivic Solo, Merry Solo, Mary Jean Bawa, Gwen Bawa, Hasan Hajawi, Nasser Wahab, Rakman Atansi and Jen Sulaim Maujin.

A source from the CPO who refused to be identified said authorities had a difficult time filing the charges as some of the arrested suspects used aliases and were not cooperative. The source also said the police were also pondering whether they should file charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act on some suspects arrested for illegal possession of firearms, ammunitions and explosives but they later decided to file the cases separately.

Most of the suspects were charged for Section 6 (maintenance of a drug den), Section 7 (employees and visitors of a drug den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and Section 12 (possession of equipment, instrument, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs).

This after most of the arrested suspects were found to have used their residences as drug dens where users can have their shabu session.

Joint operatives of DCPO, PDEA 11 and CIDG 11 launched the raid at Brgy. Ilang by virtue of the 26 search warrants issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judges Pelagio Paguican of Branch 12 and Ridgway Tanjili of Branch 15. (RSA)
