POLICE arrested on Friday one of the most wanted persons in Davao Region during a manhunt operation in Kaputian District on the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).

Personnel of the Samal police's tracking team arrested the suspect identified as Marlon Coronel Lindayao, 25, of Barangay Licup in Samal at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Norbert del Campo, head of Samal police's tracking team, said the suspect was arrested at his hideout in Barangay Libertad following the issuance of an arrest warrant by Judge Carfelita Cadiente Flores of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 1 in Samal dated February 21, 2014.

Lindayao was earlier charged with violation of Article 309 (Theft) docketed under Criminal Case No. 429-01-10 of Revised Penal Code.

Del Campo said the suspect has been wanted since 2010. He added that the suspect was a notorious thief in the area. He also said authorities have been conducting surveillance for the past few weeks before the suspect was arrested.

"After it was confirmed by some concerned citizens there (Kaputian) that naroroon nga si Lindayao, that was the time we deployed our Tracking Team to arrest the suspect, del Campo said, adding that the suspect is temporarily detained at the Samal Police Station in Peñaplata.
