CHARGES had been filed before the City Prosecution Office on Thursday against a 42-year-old man for stealing.

Chief Inspector Angel Sumagaysay, chief of Toril police station, said Jose Louie Calborero Tanedo Jr., a resident of 4-1 Governor Sales Street, was charged with theft under the Revised Penal Code.

The accused was charged following the complaint of the victim John Andrei A. Manalo, 11, a student, resident of Bato in Toril in Davao City.

The accused was brought before Prosecutor Marte Melchor Velasco around 11 a.m. on Thursday for inquest proceedings.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was inside the school campus when the suspect approached him. The suspect asked the victim if he can borrow the phone to text someone.

But Tanedo ran after the victim handed his phone. The victim was able to shout and sought the assistance of police officers who were in the area, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect is now detained at the Toril Police Station.
