TWO suspected drug pushers were killed in a shootout with authorities in two areas in Davao City on Saturday.

The first incident took place at Purok 15, Upper Piedad, Barangay Bato in Toril around 3:50 p.m. The suspect was identified as one Bai. He was also identified as Dodong of Upper Piedad.

Records from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed personnel of the Toril Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao, were in a buy-bust operation when Bai pulled his gun and attempted to shoot the poseur buyer.

The officer who acted as the buyer was able to avoid the suspect but before the latter takes another shot, the backup officers already retaliated and neutralized Bai, who succumbed to two gunshot wounds in his head and body.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered from the suspect’s possession an identification card named to Benifredo Campos Plaza, 34, of Butuan City and Surigao del Sur.

The authorities also recovered one caliber.38 pistol, four medium sachets of suspected shabu, one jumbo heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu, three live ammunitions, a Caxn wristwatch and assorted jewelry, receipts, one fired cartridge, and other belongings.

Police learned that the suspect is a member of the 14K Mindanao Group, and the drugs he delivered in Butuan City, Agusan del Sur and other areas, including Davao Region, were obtained from Carmona Cavite.

Also recovered at the crime scene were one empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol and empty shell of .9mm pistol believed to be bullets from the guns of the responding officers. All items are now under the custody of the Soco.

The suspect’s cadaver is now at the Villa Funeral Homes. The police called on any relatives to claim the body.

The other shootout took place at Mc Arthur Highway in Ulas around 10 p.m. Police identified the suspect as one Brad, in his mid 30s, 5’4” tall, wearing gray long pants, polo shirt and a jacket.

Personnel of the DCPO's Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) with the PDEA operative were also conducting a buy-bust operation at Ulas Dream Suite when Brad pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot two poseur buyers upon sensing them.

But before the suspect takes another shot, the backup officers already shot him. Brad succumbed to gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

Recovered from the crime scene were five big heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu, one homemade sub-machine pistol, otherwise known as Thomgram, and five ammunitions. These items are now at the Soco office.

Brad’s cadaver was brought to the Collado Funeral Homes.

"Ito na nga paulit-ulit kong sinasabi that any person engaging illegal drugs at hindi pahuli ay may paglalagyan. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, do not enter the city and kung sino yung nandito pa, get out kung ayaw nyo mamiligro ang mga buhay nyo," DCPO Director Vicente Danao Jr. said.
