DAVAO City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said he has not received any copy of the letter of resignation of Councilor Joanne Bonguyan-Quilos from all her committee posts in the 17th City Council.
Bonguyan's letter of resignation was addressed to Duterte, but the latter said no letter was handed over nor copy furnished to their office since the councilor resigned. [Read story here]
Until now, he said he remains clueless of Bonguyan's reason.
"Basig dili na siya gusto mutrabaho, basig gusto niya konsehal lang siya unya walay trabaho. Mao to natingala ko wala ko kadawat (She might not want to do extra work. Maybe she only wants to be a councilor without any committee)," Duterte said in an interview.
He said he has not yet talked yet with Bonguyan regarding her resignation.
"All the time akala ko the VM (vice mayor) was given a copy kasi it was addressed to him," Bonguyan told Sun.Star Davao in a text message.
She said the Floor leader Councilor Tomas Monteverde was told by Councilor Bonifacio Militar to forward it to Duterte.
Monteverde IV announced the resignation of Bonguyan during the regular session on January 28.
Bonguyan was the chairperson for committee on information and communication technology, vice-chairperson for committee on social services, and a member of the committees on women, children and family relations, youth and sports, and publication.
The reason of her resignation, though, was not stated in the letter, Monteverde told reporters in an interview.
After Monteverde announced Bonguyan's resignation, the council later proceeded with the election, replacing the latter from her committee posts.
There are already two councilors who no longer handle any single committee in the local lawmaking body - Councilors Bonguyan and Diosdado Mahipus Sr.
