CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against three men accused of burning agriculture equipment at Davco Pineapple Plantation in Purok 10, Barangay Cadalian Baguio District, Davao City on January 24.

Facing charges of arson are Roberto Castilote and two other cohorts whom police are yet to identify. The suspects were charged after they allegedly set on fire the equipment, owned by the Davao Agri Ventures Corp.

Investigation of the Baguio district police revealed that the incident took place around 6:30 p.m.

Two on-duty security guards identified as Arconcel Agton and Charlie Magne Mandate were manning the plantation when they saw a group of men roaming around the area.

The security guards did not call the attention of the men believing they were just workers at the plantation. They were, however, surprised when the Cameco harvester truck suddenly burst into flames while the men they spotted scurried and fled the area.

Further investigation of the police revealed the suspects through the cartographic sketch that was based on the description given by the security guards. Police are yet to confirm, however, if the suspects are members of the New People's Army.

Police suspect that the motive for the burning of the equipment is extortion.
