US agency donates hospital equipment

THE World Medical Relief (WMR) donated a total of $548,000 worth of hospital equipment to eight government-run hospitals in North Cotabato Province on Tuesday.

The WMR, a Detroit humanitarian relief agency, sent at least two container vans containing 87 hospital beds and 75 mattresses from Michigan.

WMR Philippine coordinator Dr. David Lee Zarate led the turnover of the hospital equipment to the Provincial Government of North Cotabato.


"All these highly needed items came from the World Medical Relief headquarters in Detroit, Michigan as our donations and component of the continuing medical assistance partnership with the government of Cotabato," Zarate said.

Present during the turnover was North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Lala J. Taliño-Mendoza, Vice Governor Greg Ipong, and eight hospital chiefs from various towns of the province.

The Provincial Government has distributed the equipment to its beneficiaries: Arakan Valley District Hospital; President Roxas Provincial Community Hospital; M’lang District Hospital; and Cotabato Provincial Hospital.

Other beneficiaries are the Aleosan District Hospital; Dr. Amado Diaz Provincial Foundation Hospital; Fr. Tulio Favali Municipal Hospital; and Alamada Provincial Community Hospital.

The hospital heads vowed to improve the quality of service to the public.

"These equipment will equally bring much help to patients, as these are material supplements to the existing facilities of public hospitals such as the Cotabato Provincial Hospital (CPH) and other hospitals in this province," Zarate said.

Taliño-Mendoza said the MWR of the Provincial Government's partnership and support.
