THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Davao Region filed charges on Thursday before the City Prosecutor's Office against a man arrested for selling some P450,000 worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation at SIR Phase 1 in Matina, Davao City.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) is Jason Montanoer Alfonso, 28, of Banobo, Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato City.

Alfonso was charged after he was arrested in an operation conducted by Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and Davao City Crime Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) in coordination with the Special Operations Team (SOT) and the Intelligence Division.

The police made the arrest after a respondent reportedly handed out a big sachet containing shabu worth P450,000 to a police officer who acted as poseur buyer.

Recovered from the possession of the suspect was the marked money and the big sachet of shabu weighing around 50 grams.

Reports of the CIDG revealed that the respondent is the leader of the Jason Bayot Group, a criminal gang involved in the illegal drug trade with Cotabato as it base of operations.

Weeks prior to the operation, the respondent has been a subject of surveillance and when authorities confirmed that he delivers drugs from Cotabato City, police arranged the buy-bust operation.

Alfonso is currently detained at the Davao City Police Office detention facility while the recovered drugs were examined at the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory.
