Judgment vs erring city hall workers out today-A A +A
Thursday, January 16, 2014
THE decision against five erring employees of the City Treasurer's Office (CTO) will be out today, city administrator lawyer Melchor Quitain said.
"That is the assurance given to me by the panel of investigators," Quitain told reporters in an interview at his office Thursday noon.
The panel is composed of Lawyers Tristan Dwight P. Domingo, Jhopee Avanceña-Agustin, and City Legal Office (CLO) head Osmundo Villanueva Jr. as the chair.
Agustin said that last week the total amount of the unremitted taxes reached P9 million. The amount involved represents the business tax collection of the city for the second quarter that ended on April 20, 2013.
Quitain said once the decision will be released from the probe panel, it will be forwarded to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who will have the final say on the matter.
"The mayor will act on that expeditiously because he wants all cases involving corruption to be decided with dispatch but of course without violating the due process of law requirement," he said.
"Whatever the decision, it will send a very strong signal to all the employees that we are dead serious in cleansing all the departments," he added.
