Local investments budget reaches P40.5M

THE committee on finance, ways and means of the 17th City Council recommended a higher amount for the city's Local Development Investment Program (LDIP) pegged at P40.5 billion.

The LDIP, which contains the programs of the government for 2014 to 2016, is P40,572,148,000.

The committee report said the LDIP includes all other projects/program/activities that may be identified by various departments, barangay councils, concerned national line agencies, the Office of the City Mayor and the Honorable Members of the City Council, that fall within the program of government of the administration and are patterned to the sectoral goals, strategies, and programs indicated on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of Davao City for 2013-2022 which was favorably indorsed by the City Development Council (CDC) in its Resolution No. 11A, series of 2013, dated October 10, 2013.


The executive department earlier proposed the LDIP budget is at P40,498,658,000. But the committee, during its series of committee hearings, increased the budget for buildings and other public infrastructure from P3,498,460,000 to P3,516,160,000.

This after the City Planning and Development Office informed the committee that some projects in the newly submitted roster were already included in the LDIP and (Annual Investment Program) AIP but the proposed budget for the projects are lower.

Accordingly, the adjustments made resulting in the Program AIP but the proposed budget for the projects are lower.

Accordingly, the adjustments made resulting to the increase were the drainage system from P9,600,000 to P13,390,000 and buildings and other public structure from P800,000 to P4,200,000.

The allocation for the LDIP under non-infrastructure projects (P18,623,424,000) are: social services (P3,417,076,000); economic services (P3,448,664,000); natural environment services (P2,230,292,000); and public governance (P9,527,392,000).

For infrastructure projects (P21,948,724,000): road development (P14,308,662,000); bridge program (P1,711,345,000); drainage system (P1,905,734,000); electrification (P182,558,000); water system (P324,265,000); buildings & other public structure projects (P3,498,460,000).

The LDIP is “a development tool which shall be utilized by the City Government of Davao in implementing projects and activities that are attuned to the thrust of the administration towards the realization of the vision of Davao City.”
