FIRST district Representative Karlo Nograles thanked Wednesday his constituents for their continuing and overwhelming support, saying he feels humbled by the experience.

"We will never forget this overwhelming mandate that the people of the first district of Davao City has given us and so I hope we will able to do what we can to perform as much as we can in order to meet the expectations of the people," Nograles told reporters at the City Council building Wednesday.

Nograles said he went to the building after he was informed that there would be proclamation of winners for the first district congressional race.

The young Nograles got a landslide victory over his rival Luis Bonguyan of Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod and a fresh mandate as congressman representing the city's first district.

During the campaign period, Nograles shied away from rallies and instead went from purok to purok and barangay to barangay in a silent but effective method.

"We made it a point that we would do a very personal campaign," Nograles said.

"That was our strategy and it seemed to work out so I guess the people appreciated that we personally asked for their support. We followed the game plan. Sabi namin bahala na tayo, bahala na ang Diyos," he added.

When asked to comment on the glitches of the Commission on Election, he said he just hopes to have a smoother process next election as there would always be concerns in any election.

"But what is important is to overcome the problems," he said.

During his first 100 days of service, he said he will still continue with his programs such as the scholarship.

As the election is over, He said his team is extending their hands of friendship to everybody.

"Move on from here for the benefit of the people, for the benefit of the city," he said.
