Davao gets 3 new fire trucks-A A +A
Tuesday, May 14, 2013
THREE brand new German-made fire trucks arrived at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) a day before the 2013 elections.
Inspector Rodolfo Alocelja of the BFP's Investigation and Intelligence Section (IIS), said the new fire trucks are part of the modernization project of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Digos, Davao and Tagum cities will get one each, he said.
Inspector Arthur Joseph Orquiza, chief operation of the same office, said one of the new trucks will be part of the existing 11 trucks distributed to 11 fire districts in the city.
The other two will go to Tagum City, Davao del Norte and Digos, Davao del Sur.
The bureau is still expecting two more fire trucks to arrive in June for the cities of Mati and Panabo.
Alocelja said one truck can carry 4,000 gallons and can lay out four hoses at any single time.
"We can save a lot since the old trucks require a lot of maintenance," said the IIS chief. (Cheneen R. Capon)
