LAST year, Sun.Star Superbalita Davao made a commitment to continuously introduce innovations before 2013 closed to make its presence more felt in the communities. They did just that recently during the 15th anniversary of SuperBalita, the first Cebuano paper in Mindanao.

To fulfill what has been promised, different services had been lined up last July 24 in a program dubbed as "Hugyaw Ta! Super B, 15 anyos na! (Let's rejoice! Super B, already 15 years old!).

Over a hundred readers availed of the free haircut and manicure offered by our partner, Arlyn L. Basquez Academy of Beauty Inc. Libreng Gupitan (Free Haircut), Job Matching for (both local and overseas) job seekers, SSS and Philhealth registration and consultations held at the Davao City Recreation Center (DCRC).

Sun.Star staff, under the helm of Sun.Star Publishing, Inc. president Gina Garcia - Atienza, general manager Tessie A. Paña, editor-in-chief Stella A. Estremera, and other partners held hands in making all the activities possible and successful.

Also, 105 job seekers for overseas and 200 for local job vacancies were interviewed and given with referrals by Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Davao City.

For job matching, readers who availed of the services were coming from as far as Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur provinces.
All attendees were also addressed by representatives from SSS Davao and Philhealth Davao.

To add color, some performers from Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) brought fun to the crowd. Attendees were delighted with magical show performed by Clown Robin who showed some magic tricks and very entertaining games with prices.

During the celebration, a Plaque of Recognition was given to Davao Print Distributor, Inc. owned by Atty. Antonio Partoza and wife, Nelia Partoza who have been part of Superbalita and Sun.Star Davao's growth in circulation.

The event was graced by City Sports and Development Office officer-in-charge William "Butch" Ramirez who shared inspiring message, along with Sun.Star's Garcia-Atienza.

They shared the importance of Superbalita nowadays where mother tongue is being taught in school as medium of instruction in K to 12 Education Program.

We brought there not only the services, but also some 900 giveaways such as cellphones, grocery items, fuel cards, rice, etc. for the attendees.
This is one way of paying back to the readers of Superbalita for 15 years now. And in addition to those items, we launched the newest Super Suki Christmas Raffle Promo to be raffled off in December 2014.

The lucky winner will get a Tricycle from Superbalita.
They were entertained by the performance of Super B jingle competition winners.

Joining with us are Superbalita Columnists Majal Talento and Al Genoguin, Dexter Visitacio, correspondent from Compostela Valley and Orlando Dinoy, correspondent from Davao del Sur.

The event, of course, was made successful through the help of our sponsors: Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, City Government of Davao, New City Commercial Center, Nature Spring, King-king Copper and Gold Project (KCGP), Pepsi Cola, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, RC Cola, Apex Mining, MX3, Councilor Leo "Happy L.A." R. Avila III and 90.7 Love Radio Davao.

To our news boys, standees, dealers, employees and officers of Sun.Star Superbalita, happy anniversary to all of us. Rest assured that we will do our best for the coming years for your satisfaction.
