“NEVER love someone beneath your level of evolution. If you want a monkey, you can visit one at your local zoo.” ~ Shannon L. Alder
This is for you who have been victims of gossip and lies and made up stories. So, this one is for all of us. We all have been targets of lies and stories made up by people who delight in propping themselves at the expense of others. God knows I have been a victim many times over. In fact, if I think about it now, I practically grew up with people who tried to destroy me with stories and lies. I say tried because somehow I am still standing. Truth has a way of emerging from all the filth people tell. If you have been a victim, you know that. If you are the predator, you would not even see yourself in the quagmire. These things I have learned.
When people try to pull you down, remember geography. When people stab you at the back, remember geography because in both cases, they are down and you are up and they are behind and you are upfront. Geography.
And there is a reason why they are behind, and a reason why they are down. You are ahead for a reason, you are up for a reason.
Oftentimes, it is very tempting to lash back, to hit and to do exactly what those unfortunate souls are doing. And honestly, I would not blame you for it but then again, there is a big difference between you and them. Again, geography. You are somewhere they can never go even if they wanted to. In my experience there were so many times I wanted to hit back and there were times that I did. But there came a time when I finally realized that entering their world and their level, you would not stand a chance at all. I learned that the hard way. So I stopped. They can live there if they want to but I chose not to indulge them anymore. You see, if you follow that quote above, when you want to deal with monkeys, you go to their zoo. So now, their only role in my life, my monkeys I mean, are for amusement. Just like when you visit a zoo. You watch their attention getting behavior. Their antics and their screaming and shouting and you in turn just become amused. Who are the monkeys in your life? I have several but I have released them in their jungle where they can relate with the other monkeys. Life is too precious to watch people making monkeys of themselves. Do not stoop to their level. There is a reason why they are down and you are up. There is a reason why they are behind you are up front.
People who are bitter and angry are most likely bitter and angry about themselves. When people talk about you, they are reflecting only themselves. People who have no idea of what they have done, have no idea of who they are and what they have done. Or if they do, they are just scared of what they see.
People who constantly judge others find themselves lonelier. People shun from them and they find themselves in their own company. They take refuge in themselves because no one likes them anymore. And the funny thing about that is when they come together, they look and stare at others and start judging them! They are the righteous and right. They are the best and the whole world is immoral and wrong. They cannot and will not admit their faults, they are always right. They are above everyone and there is no one better than them. If you commit the mistake of trying to correct them, then hellfire is upon you. How dare you question them, how dare you go against them How dare you indeed. Such wonderful sources of amusement and bewilderment.
They will never change because they are God’s gift to humanity. It is useless to talk to them, it is even more useless to listen to them. They are their own ears and tongues. They only talk and listen to themselves. So remember geography people! And remember compassion because behind all their posturing and grandstanding and judging, they are simply frightened people. Show compassion, show love, they lack those so much. Peace!
