Summer's last hurrah!

SUMMER is indeed the most anticipated season in the Philippines. It is vacation time and it's time to hit the road, conquer the seas, walk in the sand, and have more fun.

But now, summer is gone. But before summer bade goodbye, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort did the unthinkable. It hosted the party where all the hottest and hippiest partyphiles gathered together in one place: Malipano Island.

We were fortunate to be invited. We left the resort's jetty in Lanang at 3 pm and were at the island 25 minutes later.

Instead of docking at the Parola, we were ushered at the place where the villas were located.

The drumbeaters welcomed us with their hip beats; to quench our thirst, we were given pineapple juice. The party actually started at 2 pm so when we got there, there were already those who had their face painted while others had tattoos in their hands or bodies. A few guests swam at the white-sand beach.

Some games were already played; beach volleyball was on-going.

A few minutes, the kayak-relay game was conducted. While it was going on, the Zumba at the beach front also commenced.

Although it rained for few moments, it didn't stop the guests and visitors to have fun.

By sundown, most of the people were at the Malipano pavilion.

They were all dressed for the party. But before that, we did eat with much gusto. It was buffet dinner, after all.

After we were treated with a sumptuous dinner, it was time for a short program. It started with fire dancing as drumbeaters did extravaganza sounds. The master of ceremony did some spells before the live band joined the show. The Naughty Notes came and people laughed it loud while listening to their jokes.

While the show was going on, the partyphiles were already drinking to their heart's content. Beer and whiskeys were flowing.

Some were already tipsy when the foam party started. It was then that the audience felt the beat, the heat, and the temptation to join the fun. As the foam was flying in the air, the party people did their own thing: dancing and taking selfies.

My two companions were having the grand time of their lives.

"This is what I had been waiting for," said one. "Let's have fun together," the other said.

All in all, more than 300 people joined the party.

At 10:30 pm, the party ended with a big bang -- literally and figuratively. A fireworks display mesmerized everyone. Some were capturing the moment with their gadgets; others were just contented to see it happening.

It was almost midnight when I reached the place where we were staying for the night. I was exhausted but having fun. The two guys were having coffee so I joined them. Just as I sipped the coffee, I told myself: "What a way to end summer this year!"
