ACAPELLA is simply defined as music without instrumental accompaniment. Though acappella is an old musical style, recently it has been gaining attention. The past week, I have been checking out some aca-awesome a cappella groups and individuals on Youtube, here are my favorites:

Eclipse (OfficialEclipseVideo)

The group is composed of Paul Hansen, Kevin Jones, Jake Despain, Dan Kartchner, Shayne Taylor, and James Case. They joined Youtube on May 2012 and have amassed a total of 35,811 subscribers and 2.89 million views. To know more about them, you may visit their website ( or visit their Facebook page (

Noteworthy (NoteworthyLadies)

Composed of an all-female, nine-member, collegiate a cappella group from Bringham Young University, this group joined Youtube on January of 2012. To date, they have garnered 11,375 subscribers and 926,582 views. The group is notable for appearing on NBC's "The Sing-Off" in 2009 and winning the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2007. Watch their a cappella mash-up of David Guetta ft. Usher's "Without You" and Mumford & Sons' "I Will Wait" which has already gained 709,437 views.

Vocal Point (vocalpointbyu)

This is Noteworthy's male counterpart at Bringham Young University. The nine-man a cappella group's Youtube channel began in September 2010 and has gained 34,368 subscribers and 1.63 million views. You can learn more about them through their official website ( or through their Facebook page (

Pentatonix (PTXofficial)

How could we not forget about this epic acappella group composed of Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, and Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin “K.O.” Olusola. Since joining Youtube on September 2011, their channel has already amassed a whopping 5.7 million subscribers and 458.84 million views!
