Treatment for acne scars (Second of two parts)-A A +A
Monday, May 19, 2014
DEAR Flamingo Love,
We're now on our journey to treat your acne scars. Another way out is by the use of derma roller. This is a roller filled with some needles that will be glided over your acne scars. This would exfoliate the skin and encourage collagen production. This should be repeated every week and should be done for six to eight weeks. This is also a bit painful, especially for really deep acne scars - so, some anesthetic creams are also applied before the procedure. Moisturizers are also applied during the process day and night - to help the skin repair.
Now, if all the professional approaches fail to address all your acne scars, especially the deep ones, then, it's time for the collagen injections to even out your skin appearance.
However, this is just a temporary relief. As the collagen is gradually absorbed by your body, your acne scars will soon surface, so you need to repeat them regularly to make your acne scars always look "gone". It would also depend on the collagen that is used to you and to your metabolism. So, you need to have this repeated every four to six months.
Remember that the skin that has undergone dermabrasion or peeling or any variation of these processes is more vulnerable to sun and damages from the weather. You should also use high quality moisturizers and only specially formulated skin cleansers - with low pH - so, that you do not strip your skin of any of its moisture. You can ask your dermatologist for any of her recommendations if you're quite confused on the vast array of what's available in the market today.
The moisturizer that you will choose needs to be hypoallergenic and won't clog your skin's pores. If this will happen, chances are, acne might get back, bringing again the risk of skin damage and acne scarring. And oh, boy..you should remember all your pains that you had gone through when you went through skin peelings or dermabrasions. I'm sure, you wouldn't want them again.
Lastly, my dear, protect yourself from the raging damages from the sun. Make sure that you use sun block. Apply it always. It does not only protect your skin from early aging, fine lines and age spots, but, it also lessens the chance of your acne scars to appear again. Make sure, it's at least SPF 30. But, when you are out there - and when you're sweating much or spending a lot of time in the water especially, it's summer this time, then reapply them again and again.
