ALL is set for thePhilippine Obstetrical & Gynecological Society (Foundation) Inc. (Pogs) 2014 Midyear Convention and Scientific Seminar on May 1-3 at the SMX Convention Center in Lanang.
This year’s convention, however, will have a twist: ace indie film director Brillante Mendoza and his film Thy Womb.
The film showing for a limited 500-seat screening at SM Lanang Cinema 6 will be on the Scoail Events of the first day, following the POG Dance Showdown at The Atrium of SM Lanang Premier in the morning, and just before the Opening Ceremonies at the SMX Convention Center in the evening of May 1.
Convention speakers are:
Dr. Celia C. Castillo FPCP, the corporate research and development director of Davao Doctors Hospital, who will give tips for effective communication for doctors;
Dr. Rosendo R. Roque FPOGS, the chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the San Juan de Dios Hospital, who will talk on The Art of Dealing with Adverse Events in Patient Care;
Lizabel Garcia-Holganza, president and chair of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines who will tackle Optimizing ICT Solutions in Health Care;
Guillermo Luz, the private sector co-chair of the National Competitiveness Council, who is assigned to speak on Global and Regional Competitiveness in Health Care: Where are We Now and Where are We Going?
Dr. Divina Cristy Redondo, the head of the Medical Nutrition and Weight Management Center of Premiere Medical Center in Nueva Ecija, on Making Sense of the Various Diet Programs;
Dr. Rosa Gandahariu Alvero Carpio DPBA, FPSA, a director of the board of the Philippine Society of Anesthesiology and an associate professor of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, on Recognizing and Dealing with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease;
Dr. Nemuel S. Fajutagana MPHEd, a professor of health professions education at the National Teachers Training Center for the Health Professions of the University of the Philippinea-Manila, on Understanding Our Children, Students, and Trainees: The Characteristics of Generations of Learners, and;
Prof. Katherine Claudette K. Avelino=Tandoc, an assistant professor of the De La Salle University-Manila who also serves as consultants for various pre-schools in Metro Manila, on Understanding Multiple Intelligence.
This year’s Midyear convention organizaing committee is made up of Drs. Rowena Auxillos, the over-all chair, Helen Grace Te-Santos, the POGS Southern Mindanao Chapter Regional Director, and Veronica Mallari-Deniega, the chair of the organizing committee.
Executive Committee Internal Affairs officers are Drs. Te-Santos as chair, Felicidad Slaughter as secretary, and Ophelia Saavedra as treasurer.
External affairs officers are Drs. Maribina Tecson-Lim, chair; Michelle Ong, secretary, and; Aleli Tong-an, treasurer.
Sub-committee heads are:
