HER sister being an inspiration plus her friends' incessant prodding, April Rose Prieto Pasaol never passed up this once-in-a-lifetime chance to share what she got in the Binibining Samal 2015 last March 6 at Samal Cultural Center.

"Bale si Ate sumasali siya before, kaso di siya nakapwesto. Kaya this this time gusto niya ako naman. Medyo nakakatakot at the same time excited ako to represent our baranagay," the 18-year-old lass said.

With her confidence, wit and charm, April made it to the top 5 wherein she emerged as the 3rd-runner up. She was named as this year's Sun.Star Superbalita Ms. Superlike 2015.

The Samalena is a third year college student taking up marketing course at Mats College of Technology on R. Castillo St., Agdao, Davao City.

She described herself as simple, talkative and friendly. "At first, lagi nilang sinasabi na medyo strict ako, pero pag nakilala na ako I'm easy to mingle with."

Though joining beauty pageants is not new to her, she can't still get rid of feeling nervous on stage, but thanks to her ever supportive friends and family who helped boost her self-confidence.

Being the Sun.Star Superbalita Ms. Superlike 2015, she attributed her success to her ever supportive friends and family.

"Di talaga ako nakatutok sa online campaign kasi nga very busy kami. Nabigla na lang ako when someone told me na ako na yung leading. I'm just so thankful to them, lalo na sa Ate ako na talagang magdamagang ng Facebook para lang i-kampanya ako. Of course, to our barangay sa binigay nilang financial support."

When asked how she described being a beauty queen, the pride of Barangay Mambago-B, Igacos under the leadership of Barangay Captain Vicente Lavador said: "Yung title it will represent sa anu yung naabot mo, but above all mas challenging yung pagiging role model mo sa lahat. For me, not necessary na maganda ka o sexy, it is how you carry yourself and be more confident sa sarili mo."

April was also elated for the support she earned, saying: "Thank you so much, di ko talaga inaasahan na I will get the Ms. Superlike title. Sa lahat ng bomoto sa akin, nag-like, nag-share, thank you so much, God bless sa inyo."

As the Sun.Star Superbalita Ms. Superlike 2015, April received from Sun.Star Davao a bouquet, sash and gift certificate of a hotel accommodation for two at Waterfront Insular Hotel.

It was awarded to her by John Darwin Kapauan, Circulation Supervisor and this writer during the coronation night held last March 6.
