A DAVAO CITY-based acoustic band, composed of five young, good-looking and talented high school students, has continued to shine with astounding performances that brought them to various events not only in the city, but other parts of Davao Region.

The latest of which was a successful concert in Lupon, Davao Oriental where the group, who called themselves the Avousteens, performed before a huge crowd on the second day of the week-long Araw ng Lupon last August 3 at Lupon Gymnasium.

Dubbed as "Gabi ng Kantahan at Tawanan," the Acousteens performed back to back with comedians from Davao City-based Zegudo comedy bar. The event was sponsored and organized by the municipality of Lupon, headed by Mayor Domingo Lim.

It was attended by the town mayor himself, and First Lady Erlinda Lim as well as municipal councilors headed by Councilors Juan Maralit and Edna Bote.

The group had a motorcade prior to the concert, touring around different barangays in Lupon.

During the show, the band delighted the crowd, not only those of their age, but even the "young once and the young at heart" with their wide selection og songs.

The group performed songs of different genres -- from the 80's to present that included love songs, RNB, pop, OPM, dance music among others -- songs popularized by Bruno Mars, Adele, John Legend, One Direction , Miley Cyrus, Abba, Bamboo, Yeng Constantino and many others.

Two of its members, Jannine Cartagena and Raygel Virtudazo, have relatives in Lupon and were even acknowledged and cited by the councilors for their remarkable achievement at a very young age.

The event was successful that the band even had a number of fans lining up to take their photos after the show.

Acousteens has gone a long way since they were formed last March 2014.
Coming from different schools in Davao City aged 13-18 yrs old, these young teens bonded together with the goal of providing a unique blend of music from various genre to varied audiences.

The band is composed of Jannine Cartagena from Davao City National High School, Raygel Virtudazo from Christian Colleges of Southeast Asia, Allen Linares from Sta. Ana National High School, Yel Salas from F. Bangoy National High School and Bentrel Gamad from USEP.

They had performed in various Camella events in the cities of Davao, Tagum, Koronadal and General Santos, SM Ecoland Mother's Day event, Emcor's 3-day Sale, gig at Pearl Farm and small events like birthdays, weddings and other functions. The group also appeared in Maayong Buntag Mindanao, ABS CBN Davao's morning show.

Acousteens can well represent the youth of today who are talented, dedicated and a good example to their fellow youth.

They undergo regular voice lessons and practice with their voice coach Ronnie Luma of Yamaha School of Music.

For bookings or invitations, call Marlon Escalicas at tel no 09178668784 or Gina Cartagena 09283625891.

Acousteens are willing to perform for free in school or any barangay events as this is part of their advocacy to encourage the youth to share their talents to the world.
