LAUREN Young is one of the few stars of her genre who is nice to talk with, answering well all the questions thrown to her, talking with sense ahead of her years.

Weeks ago, the Kapuso actress was here in the city to promote her movie ‘Overtime’ with Richard Gutierrez. The film debuted last July 2 of this year.

Few members of Davao media were given a chance to interview her and ask get updates on her showbiz career.

From starring in independent films, Lauren will test her charm and wit as an actress in a mainstream movie.

The actress said that as an artist she has responsibilities, one of which is to let the public know the soul of the film she is in.

"It's a big challenge for me kasi, iba talaga yung indie with mainstream. Sa indie you have to prepare and fix yourself, from the clothes you will wear, your make-up and some stuff. But I'm glad kasi with these I've learned to be independent," she said.

She added, "When I told my friends na I will be doing an indie film, ayun very excited sila kasi they thought na challenging yung role but when I told them na gagawa ako for mainstream, sabi naman nila ay wala corny nanaman yan."

Lauren also shares that in every role she do, she has some considerations to make.

"Every role I just don’t get it because I'm an actress, or I can be famous with it. I do a role na may matutunan ang tao sa akin. Like doing a kontrabida role, masama yun diba, but you will see na may dahilan bakit siya nagging ganun. I want to use my talent to influence, educate people, that they will be informed," the Kapuso actress explains.

On the other hand, it’s always a dream as well for the actress to receive an acting award, but she admitted she’s willing to wait and improve her craft.

"Of course, andun yung dream to receive an award but I don't want that an award will define my career. What's important is how you play your role and how you treat people around you. Kasi kahit sabihin na may award ka but di ka matino, wala rin. Still I aim for that award it drives me to improve more," she said.

Lauren's most recent movie under GMA Films is a suspense movie that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

The actress also promised that the plot of the movie is not conventional, but it is inspired by Hollywood blockbuster films.

Overtime is written by Wincy Aquino-Ong and co-directed by Earl Ignacio.
