Sarap Diva joins Araw, tapes for April episode-A A +A

ASIA's Songbird Sarap Diva visited the 77th Araw ng Davao on March 15 and 16 to feature a number of iconic places and cuisines of the city.
In an interview with Davao entertainment press at Let's Crab Eat Restaurant on Saturday, the Kapuso singer-actress-host shared how excited she was to finally visit the city again to tape an episode for her lifestyle show Sarap Diva, which is set to air by April.
The cooking cum talk show, which is aired every Saturday morning right before Eat Bulaga, has been Regine Velasquez-Alcasid's nest since late 2012. Apart from cooking demonstrations by Regine herself or her guests, it also features places or tourist spots worth the travel.
For an episode on Davao City's must-see and must-eat, Regine will be brave enough to taste the area's ever exotic delicacy, the roasted crocodile (lechong buwaya, that is!).
"They'd really want me to taste the lechon na crocodile. Actually, medyo weird isipin but I'm willing to try it," she said.
Ogie Alcasid’s wife will also show to her avid audience why Dabawenyos love the king of fruits -- durian.
"Ipapa-try din nila sa akin ang durian kasi I don't eat durian. I don\t actually mind the smell. It's really the taste I don't like," she said.
She said she had already tasted durian before but she never liked the experience. She said that when she got to taste the pulp and it was kind of awful, she decided to swallow the whole of it, only to find out that the seed was included in it.
"Mabuti nga at hindi ako nabilaukan," she said.
Upon the prodding of the press, Regine tried some durian. You really could see in her face that she doesn't like it. However, when the durian meat reaches her tongue, she exclaimed that it doesn't taste awful, actually.
"Custardy pala ang lasa ng durian. Okay naman pala sya. Iba kasi ang lasa nung natikman ko dati," she said.
So the press thought that the first durian she tasted might be overripe or not just a good variety.
If there\s one Davao fruit that Regine loves, it's marang! You have to see her eat it! It's as if she's into a marang-eating contest. You'd definitely love to see her eat it, too!
Regine as a cook
Regine admitted that though she's not a good cook, she really enjoys being in the kitchen.
"I've really not cooked before pero noong nagkaroon ng dyowa, medyo natututo. Pa-cute pa-cute. And I eventually realized that I actually love to cook," she said.
Regine said that for this year, she wants to perfect her caldereta, Ogie's favorite dish.
“Actually, may recipe ang tatay ko na itinuro sa akin pero hindi ko talaga makuha-kuha. Favorite kasi ng asawa ko ang caldereta ng tatay ko,” she said.
Aside from caldereta, Ogie likewise loves Regine's salad creations.
"Gusto n'ya ang mga iniimbento kong mga salad. Hinahaluan ko sya ng fruits kasi hindi 'yon kumakain ng fruits. Apple lang ang kilala nung prutas," she said adding that she sometimes adds local fruits like guava to her salads. To her surprise, her husband in fact loves the twist in the salad's taste.
According to Regine, she keeps on looking for no-fry recipes since the love of her life is a healthy eater.
"Ang specialty na masasabi ko ay 'yong healthy kasi 'yong asawa ko ay maarte. It's either grilled or baked. 'Yong hindi ma-oil," she said.
Regine promised to share more of her recipes in the upcoming episodes of her show.
