LATEST innovations and trends in the construction industry will take centerstage in this year's staging of Philconstruct Mindanao, slated on September 4-6 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier.

Ramon Allado, Philconstruct Mindanao event chair, during the event launching and press conference, yesterday said for this year's event they are expecting some 10,000 attendees and visitors from the construction industry to visit the exhibition that features more than 82 companies.

Philippine Constructors Association Inc. (PCA) president Delfin Wnceslao Jr. said the event will be a venue for construction industry players to find new opportunities.

"This will also give them the opportunity to network and engage with the members of the [construction industry] community," he said.

Ludwig Ledesma, vice president for internal affairs of the Davao Constructors Association Center Inc. (DCACI), said the this year's edition of Philconstruct Mindanao will provide focus on green building and construction since the industry has major impact to the environment, economy, and human health.

He said the event will showcase the latest technology innovations that will help build strong and sustainable infrastructure.

Manolito Madrasto, general manager of Philconstruct Events, Exhibitions, & Conferences Corp. (PEECC), said they are bringing Philconstruct to Mindanao because they want those in Mindanao to experience and to be able to get a hold on the latest trends, innovations, and technology in the construction industry without going to Manila.

Aside from the wide range of products and services that will be displayed, the event will also feature the Technoforum Mindanao, a seminar series featuring the latest updates and trends of the industry.

This year's Technoforum will be headlined by a seminar on discussing opportunities and challenges of the construction industry with the advent of the Asean Economic Community 2015.

Other topics seminars include: Authorized Managing Officers Seminar; Updated Traffic City Regulation Seminar; Effective Contracts Administration Avoidance and Early Resolution of Disputes; Briefing on Equipment and Maximum Load Capacity; Briefing on Equipment Maximum Load Capacity; Construction Workers Safety and Health Orientation; and Tax Updates on the Recent Changes and Developments in Taxation.

Wilfredo Guerzon Jr., Technoforum Mindanao 2014 chair, said this will be a venue for industry professionals to share their knowledge and best practices with each other.

There will also be a special event that will be held alongside Philconstruct Mindanao 2014, the Mindanao Crafts and Cultural Village.

National MSME Development Council vice chair and private sector representative Mary Ann M. Montemayor said the trade fair will feature arts, culture, and products of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) all over Mindanao.
