THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) will embark on an explorative trade mission in Paris, France in October 2014.
DCCCII president Antonio T. dela Cruz, during the chamber's general membership meeting on Friday at the Seda Abreeza Hotel, said the mission will be held on October 17 to 23, in time for the 2014 Salon International de l'alimentation (Sial), one of the largest international food and beverage trade exhibit.
The trade mission is in collaboration with Export Academy.
Raf Vlummens, Small Business Development Center committee chair, told reporters that the mission will allow participating local businessmen to study the European market and its trends and to give them the opportunity to develop export possibilities for their products.
He said they are eyeing to bring 20 businessmen and traders, most of whom are into agriculture and food processing, to Paris.
Vlummens said they will not be setting up a booth during the Sial since this is just an explorative trade mission, but he hopes in the coming years they will be able to set up one.
"The mission is one of the plans of the chamber as we enter the Asean Economic Community in 2015. We should not forget to also connect with other European countries," dela Cruz said.
He said the mission trip is in the process of being finalized. Dela Cruz said participating businessmen and traders will be pay for their own.
Aside from the Paris explorative trade mission, DCCCII will also be participating in the Mindanao Investment Mission to Manado in August and the Sabah International Expo on September 18 to 21, 2014.
