Camella lines up 3 more housing projects

CAMELLA, a fully-owned subsidiary of Villar-led Vista Land, is set to unveil three big ticket housing projects in Davao City within the year.

Marlon Niño Escalicas, cluster head for Camella South Central Mindanao, said these projects will be erected in the areas very strategic for housing developments such as Toril, Mintal-Catalunan, and Communal in Buhangin.

"We want all our projects to be well dispersed so that we can help the city to develop these areas," he said.


These three are poised to create harmonious communities for future residents, making sure that their housing needs are not only met but also surpassed, with Camella bringing in all that they need closer.

The most recent among the three is the 30-hectare low-cost to mid-cost township that will soon rise in Communal. This will provide more than just housing units because commercial area will go along with residential.

Amenities include a community clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis court and basketball court.

"The landscaped green spaces with pocket parks and playgrounds, jogging trails, and tree nurseries provide a wholesome, nature-inspired community environment," the briefer added.

There, housing units will be comprised of two-storey buildings and townhouses for the start-up families and single professionals.

Camella is eyeing to ground break this project in August this year.

A much bigger 100-hectare township will also rise in Toril. Having a wider space for development, it is poised to come complete with not only residential but also commercial and industrial zones.

Escalicas said a commercial center will be most likely put up there, providing future residents the ease of having most of the basic needs within easy reach.

"The talks are on-going hopefully we can launch that before the year-end. Most likely, we're putting in commercial center, school, and church," he said.

The promising project also seeks to create a "city within a city" environment.

"Nakita namo ang potential naa na didto ang coal plant and industrial (We see the demand because the coal plant and industrial are there)," he said.

He added that developments in Toril saw the need for more housing projects, that's why Camella is stepping in.

"We are seeing demand not only from the OFWs but even from the locals, they need housing. Mao manang kagwapo kay kung asa ang development mosabay pud ng housing (The good thing about it is that housing boom follows where the development is)," he said, adding that they are also eyeing for another expansion in Mintal.

Also, the soon-to-be-erected townships will decongest the traffic in the downtown area.

"We're also trying to help the city so that development will not only concentrate in downtown which causes the traffic as people up north and south of Davao will not have to go down to the city center," he added.

Vista Land, one of the major real estate developers in the Philippines, is bullish on its expansion plans in Southern Mindanao, taking advantage of the local markets in emerging cities outside of Metro Manila like Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and Tagum.

"But Davao will really get the bulk of investments," he said.

Camella is targeting to break ground for the three projects either within the third or fourth quarter of the year, each with a target completion date of two years.
