NIPPON Paint (Coatings) Philippines Inc. announced its expansion in Davao on Wednesday at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao following a successful launch in Manila last April 2014.

"Davao is fast growing and we know for a fact that the construction and real estate industries are flourishing in this city. We are definitely looking forward to be part of this exciting growth through our extensive range of coating solutions," said Gladys Goh, group general manager of the Nippon Malaysia Group, the principal owner of Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines Inc.

Nippon Philippines has outlets at Citi Hardware Matina and Tagum City and Trust Home Depot Ecoland. Colourland, located along R. Magsaysay Ave, Davao City, is the exclusive distributor of Nippon Paints.

Malot Gaw, Colourland assistant manager for wholesale department, said Nippon Paint has a strong potential in Davao due to the recent boom in the construction industry.

She also said the company has a strong advantage in the industry due to the wide range of selection of high quality and eco friendly paint and coating products.

In order to provide Dabawenyos with easy access to their colors, Nippon Paint has brought in their Nippon Colour Creations, available in their outlets throughout Davao and the Philippines.

The Nippon Colour Creations is a tinting machine that is able to produce thousands of colors, on demand, making it convenient for Dabawenyos to find their choice of color.

"Dabawenyos would no longer waste time in paint centers only to learn that their preferred color is not available. With the machines, they can now ask on demand from over 10,000 paint formulations in our library," Goh said.

They are also introducing their newest product Nippon Momento Special Effects, a textured range of coatings created to give homeowners more options to wall decorations beyond color.

The Nippon Momento Special Effects features two different series the Textured series and the Enhancer series. The Textured series comprises of the following variants: Elegant, Sparkle Silver, Pearl, and Gold. The Enhancer series has two variants: Frost and Cloud, which works as a textured over-glaze to enhance any new existing wall color.

Goh said they are investing more than P100 million for the Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines Inc. She said the bulk of their investments will be going to the expansion, deployment of machines, brand awareness, and logistics. Their research and development will be done in Malaysia.

She said their products now are currently being imported from Malaysia.

However, Goh said they have a manufacturing plant in Cabuyao, Laguna but they will begin its operations once they see an increase in demand.

They are aiming to close the year with at least P200 million in sales. In a press statement, the company aims to achieve P1.5 billion in sales turnover in the next three years.

At present, they have some 60 outlets throughout the country since they began in April.

They are present in 15 countries with 56 manufacturing plants employing 15,000 individuals. They are the No. 1 paint player in the Asia-Pacific.
