City Building to surpass target collection this year

THE Office of the City Building Official (Ocbo) is targetting to collect P75 million in revenues this year.

Assistant city building official Joseph Dominic Felizarta, who geusted in Monday's edition of KepehansaDabaw at SM City Davao Annex, said the bulk of the collection will be coming from business permit fees.

But he pointed out that there is the possibility that they will surpass the target revenue collection this year with the recent boom in the construction industry of the city.


"We might be able to collect around P80 million to P90 milliion," Felizarta said.

He said in the next five years, with the continued boom of the industry, they expect a yearly revenue collection of around P100 million.

Felizarta also said that 15 percent of the total revenues collected will be utilized for the operational expenses.

For the first quarter of this year, they already registered a revenue collection of P33.142 million, 9.5 percent compared to the P29.98 million that was collected during the same quarter in 2013.

Last year, Ocbo posted a total of P73.9 million in collected revenues, surpassing its target of P65 million, and aa high collection efficiency of 113.65 percent.

The agency sources its revenues from: certification fees; signage and sign support fees; building permit; electrical permit; plumbing permit; mechanical permit; electronic fee; and annual inspection fee.
