P4.4-M shared facility project proposals ok'd

THE regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI 11) has approved a total of eight shared service facility (SSF) project proposals in the region amounting to P4.39 million as of April 29, 2014.

DTI 11 officer-in-charge Ma. Belenda Q. Ambi, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday, said they have approved four in Davao City, three in Davao Orieantal, and one in Compostela Valley.

Approved project proposals in Davao City are: the P490,000 abaca fiber processing project of Sinabadan Tribu Bawa Ancestral Domain Organization (Sitribado) in Toril; the P990,000 corn milling facility of Fatima Multipurpose Cooperative (FMPC) in Paquibato; the P587,000 meat processing facilities of the Upper Tamayong Multipurpose Cooperative (UTMPC) in Calinan; and the P782,000 cacao tablea processing project of the Tawan-tawan Multipurpose Cooperative (TMC) in Baguio district.


Project Proposals that have been approved in Davao Oriental are: the P372,240 handicraft production facility of the local government unit (LGU) of San Isidro; the P505,560 hot chili processing facility of the LGU of Baganga; and the P500,000 cacao tablea processing project of Kaginhawa-an Coconut Farmers Integrated Cooperative (Kacofinco) in the Municipality of Governor Generoso.

The P165,000 abaca handicrafts production facility of the Cooperative of Handicraft Association of Nabuntaran, Inc. (Chain) in Nambuntaran is the only SSF in Compostela Valley that has been approved.

DTI 11 has allotted around P34 million for the SSFs in the region this year.

The SSF is a component of DTI's Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) Development Program "which is aimed at improving the competitiveness of MSMEs by providing them with machinery, equipment, tools, skills, and knowledge under a shared system."
