THE regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry in Davao region (DTI 11) urged women entrepreneurs to bank on their natural advantage to become competitive in business.
This according to the message of DTI 11 officer-in-charge Ma.Belenda Q. Ambi, delivered by DTI 11 trade and industry development specialist Lilia E. Silda during Enterprise Bank Inc.'s Women Entrepreneurs Exhibit and Business (Web) Forum 2014 at the Davao Convention and Trade Center.
Networking or linkaging, intuitive management, multi-tasking, patience, listening skills, pain tolerance, and being not predisposed to vices were among the characteristics Silda cited that will provide women an edge when it comes to entrepreneurship and competing in the business environment.
"In the face of a very challenging and competitive business environment with globalization and Asean Integration, we need to use and hone these traits to unlock the full potentials of our women entrepreneurs," she said.
Silda challenged the women to take up the challenges of the business environment by improving goods and services, efficiency of processes, being innovative and creative, and exploring bigger markets.
She also said women entrepreneurs should also bank in into the best practices and successes of other counterparts to overcome the challenges the business community has to offer.
The small and medium enterprises (SME) Roving Academy, share service facilities, product enhancement programs, and product marketing facilitation are just some of the support DTI 11 has to offer to women entrepreneurs.
"We have also insitutionalized the conduct of the Annual Women Entrepreneurs Summit where we recognize the importance of women entrepreneurs," Silda said.
The Web Forum 2014 is an event organized by Mindanao based Enterprise Bank Inc. (EBI), a thrift bank, in line with its 38th year anniversary.
The exhibit showcased different products and services from 67 exhibitors and was visited by some 300 individuals.
"This is the first time we did this event. The purpose of it is to really create and give more opportunities to women entrepreneurs," said Harold G, Valderrama, manager of the account management group.
