SOME 200 overseas jobs in the Middle East have been added to the more than 1,200 positions available for the upcoming job fair organized by the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) in Davao City on March 28 at the Davao City Recreation Center.

Peso-Davao City manager Lilibeth D. Pantinople, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao on Friday, said there will be around 50 jobs for skilled workers and 50 for engineers in Saudi Arabia and another 100 job vacancies for degree holders of mechanical engineering.

Earlier, Pantinople said there were 700 job vacancies for mall staff in Saudi Arabia. As of now, there are a total of 900 overseas job vacancies provided by four foreign recruitment agencies.

Local jobs available during the fair remain at around 500, wherein 200 are coming from BPO companies while around 300 from malls.

Pantinople said the job fair this year is also part of their Araw ng Dabaw celebration, and it will be somehow different because it will be catering mainly to the services sector. She said the demand in this sector is very high both local and overseas.

The fair is held in partnership with the City Government of Davao and the office of Councilor January Duterte, and in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment. (Reuel John F. Lumawag)
