AFTER a series of ocular inspections, Davao City is "ranked" as one of the most prepared cities to host the 23rd Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit meetings next year.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Asst. Secretary Art Boncato, in last Friday's launching of Big Davao Fun Sale at Grand Men Seng Hotel, said the National Organizing Committee (NOC) will announce the cities that will be given hosting rights to some of the ministerial meetings in the next few weeks.

Boncato said even with just one ministerial meeting, it will bring big impact to the city.

Also shortlisted were Boracay, Cebu, Tagaytay, Clark, Subic, Bacolod, Iloilo, and Metro Manila.

Earlier, City Tourism Office (CTO) officer-in-charge Lisette Marques said the last inspection team, headed by Ambassador Ma. Angelina Sta. Catalina and National Defense undersecretary Natalio Ecarma III, who came over to the city was impressed of the city's facilities.

The city's security and conference venues for the meetings of the 21 high-ranking officials of 21 economies already exceeded their expectations.

"They (inspectors) validated what the previous inspection team did. Tiningnan nila ang conference venues, accommodation sites and establishments of Davao," she added.
