A TOPNOTCH structural engineer in the country has assured Dabawenyo condominium buyers at Camella Northpoint that its high-rise buildings can withstand stronger earthquake as the vertical development project strictly follows regulations on safety standards.

Ronaldo S. Ison, owner and principal structural engineer of R.S. Ison and Associates based in Makati City, assured on Monday they are complying with all the requirements as provided for in the National Building Code and the National Structural Code of the Philippines.

Ison, past president of the Structural Engineers Association of the Philippines, is the structural engineer consultant for Vista Residences, a subsidiary of Vista Land and Lifescapes, Inc., the country's largest homebuilder.

"The four condo towers at Northpoint can resist magnitude 7.8 to 8 earthquake. It can withstand an earthquake stronger than the one that struck Bohol last year," he said.

The condo buildings can also withstand a maximum wind speed of 200 km per hour. "That's provided for in the code and we do comply with it," Ison said.

He said the provisions of the national building code are of international standards, "so it only means we do follow international standards on all our vertical development projects."

In terms of quality control, Ison said measures are in place to ensure the contractors also complied with the plans and specifications of the building.

"We made sure that constant consultations with the contractors and strict monitoring at the site are being done. Quality control is strictly observed at the site," je said.

Northpoint is set to break ground for its fourth condo building, the 15-storey Liverpool, in the third quarter of this year.

Northpoint is the British colonial themed condo development at the corner of Buhangin Road and JP Laurel Avenue in Bajada, Davao City.

The reputable track record of Vista Residences as a developer of successful vertical developments, coupled with over three decades of homebuilding expertise of Vista Land are enough to solidify Northpoint's reputation as a development of prime value.

Northpoint's value is also influenced by its strategic location, nestled within the heart of north Davao's growth area where business and commercial developments are currently taking place, shaping the city's landscape with ongoing real estate developments.
