SOME 35,000 business establishments are expected to renew their business permits from January 2 to 20 at NCCC Mall and Davao City Council office, an official said.

City Treasurer Rodrigo S. Riolo, in a press briefing on Monday, said they are also expecting some 1,000 new establishments that will file new applications this month.

Business Bureau officer-in-charge Lawrence D. Bantiding said new applications and renewals will be processed at the City Council Lobby while the one-stop-shop at NCCC Mall will be for the renewal of the permits only.

"I urge all business establishments to come as early as possible with a complete set of requirements," Riola said, adding that prior to the renewal period, they held a meeting with business establishment representatives, most of which are bookkeepers, on the requirements needed.

He said most businesses usually process their business permit renewal or application as the deadline nears as they have yet to complete the required documents.

The requirements for permit renewal are as follows: (a) original 2013 business permit, (b) original 2013 computerized official receipts and if it is manual, secure certificate of tax payment from City Treasurer Office, (c) original barangay clearance, (d) certified list of employees and their corresponding positions, (e) secure market clearance or certificate for public market from CTO and City Administrator and DCOTT stall holders, (f) if the taxpayer is represented; special power attorney for individual secretary certificate for corporation to transact with the bureau together with the valid ID's of all signatories, (g) community tax certificate, (h) gross sales certification form from CTO, and (i) fire safety inspection certificate 2013.

"Despite the fact that many come during the last week of the renewal period, we haven't experience any extension in the last eight to 10 years," Riola said.

Bantiding said processing will be much faster this time, since there will only be five steps in the process compared to 10 steps in the previous years.

He also said they are holding the one-stop-shop at NCCC Mall to address the problem of congestion among applicants and renewees at the City Council because the space at Kadayawan Hall is much larger compared to the one at the council.

Schedules are as follows: January 4 to 5 will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., January 6 to 10 and 13 to 17 will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. While the schedule for Saturdays and Sundays will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On January 20, they can process their renewals from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at NCCC Mall and from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight at the SP Lobby.
