UNFAZED by stiffer competition, a homegrown chain of restaurants is planning to expand in Cagayan de Oro City this year as it expressed confidence in the potential of its market.

"We are eyeing to open a branch in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) in Northern Mindanao by August. We are just looking on how we can transport our food products from Davao City to CDO," Anthony Ang, founding owner of Antonio's Bar and Grill, told Sun.Star Davao at the sidelines of the launch of their February promo, dubbed as "A Love Story."

He said they are planning to open a branch at Centrio of the Ayala Malls in Cagayan de Oro. If this materializes, it will be Antonio's second branch outside Davao City, after opening its third branch at SM City in General Santos City.

Antonio's has two branches in Davao City at SM City Davao, its first store that opened in 2006, and Abreeza of the Ayala Malls.

"We are also planning to expand in Davao this year and we are looking at SM Lanang Premier as our new location," Ang said as he expressed confidence on the market's preference for Filipino cuisine, which he claimed as their advantage.

Antonio's, he said, has sustained its image as a homegrown brand that offers "modern Filipino food with a twist."

Such concept, he said, has been widely accepted by the market, especially diners who are seeking for Filipino fine dining restaurant.

"Although several other restaurants are opening in the malls, Antonio's will stay true to its identity of being a family-oriented Filipino restaurant where taste and flavor are the utmost priority," Ang said.

As it continues to innovate, Antonio's launched on Tuesday the "Antonio's Bar & Grill: A Love Story," featuring 14 dish promo that will run for the whole month of February.

With the promo, dine-in customers will be given a Valentine promo card which has the 14 dish promo offering. A cardholder will get a stamp for each order of the 14 dishes.

Once the customer completes the 14 stamps in the promo card, they can redeem a pair of black or red of the Limited Edition of Antonio's couple shirt for free.

Included in the dish promo are Antonio's bestsellers, such as pinaputok na manok, balbacua, crispy namgus sa inadobong kangkong at gata, crispy pata and inadobong manok sa gata at sili.

Also offered in the promo are the restaurant's new offerings, such as sisig pusit, bagnet and frozen buko pandan.
