FRESH from opening two branches in Mindanao last December 2012, homegrown Blugre Coffee Shop opened its 6th branch in Davao City on Friday at the Abreeza Ayala Mall.

The opening of the new outlet was a result of the partnership between the company executives and investors from Cebu City, couple Domingo and Jenina Marques. The signing of contract was held on January 13, 2013 at the Blugre Landco branch.

Domingo, in an interview, said he and his wife are very optimistic about the positive turnout of the latest Blugre outlet in the city.
He added that plans to put up a branch in Cebu are being threshed out, eyeing to open at least a full-store there within this year.

He, however, admitted that it's not only them who signified interest to bring Blugre Coffee back in his hometown in Cebu, but added they have the "first right to refusal" whenever there are franchisees and investors who are planning to venture into business with the coffeeshop.

"It has to be planned well. We're still looking for possible places," he said, referring to their franchise in Cebu City.

Jenina added there's not a single coffeeshop, aside from Blugre, which uses locally-grown products such as Durian.

The Blugre outlet in Abreeza Ayala Mall is a counter-type coffeeshop with a total 19-seating capacity.

The second branch of Blugre in General Santos City reopened on December 17 while the franchised outlet at Gaisano Mall of Davao, owned by the first foreign investor Vivian Cubero, opened two days later on December 19.

Joanne Siy, Blugre vice president for operations and franchise, said the floor area can be expanded anytime.

Blugre Coffee has become more aggressive on its nationwide and international expansion plans, targeting key areas in the Philippines and the progressive areas in the world where they are planning to invade by year 2014.

In the country, the company is planning to put up an outlet in Butuan City, two in Cagayan de Oro City, two in Boracay, seven in Visayas area, 15 in Metro Manila, one in Las Vegas and another one in San Francisco, USA.

Siy added Blugre will soon be brewing in Singapore with the commitment of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who has two branches in General Santos City, to put up an outlet there.
