TEAM Sugbuanon escaped a close match against the Cebu Niños, 13-12, in the championship match of the first South Bowl 2015: Regional Flag Football Championships last Sunday at the Camp Lapu-Lapu field in Barangay Apas.

The Sugboanon secured a slot to the championship match after beating the Dumaguete Mad Dogs, 28-7, while the Niños dismantled the Ozamiz Wolves, 26-14, in the other semis match.

Both the Sugbuanon, the eventual champions, and the first runner-up Niños are flag football squads in Cebu.

The Mad Dogs advanced to the semis via a dominating win over Iligan Hawks, 43-6. And the Wolves earned the semis slot by blanking Iligan Titans, 15-0.

The tournament, hosted by the United Flag Football Club (UFFC) and supervised by the Flag Football Philippines (FFP), was UFFC’s maiden tournament in the Visayas and Mindanao regions and was joined by a total of six teams.

The tournament is aimed to strengthen the camaraderie and unity among the flag football teams and clubs here in the country.

The tournament was organized by UFFC headed by president John Richie Delos Santos and was sanctioned by FFP headed by founder Joseph Pagulayan and FFP Regional officer Bernardo Baltazar Jr.
