SWU looks to recover from slump-A A +A
Saturday, August 30, 2014
THE reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. girls volleyball champions Southwestern University (SWU) has been on a losing slump, losing two huge events this year. It now hopes to turn the tables around in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) as they try to defend their title.
Today, it takes on the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) in the 8:30 a.m. opener at the Aznar Coliseum.
The SWU Baby Cobras, who failed to win a title in the Milo Little Olympics and in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League- Central and Eastern Visayas Leg, hopes to retain their dominance in the Cesafi.
“The team is undergoing regular training and we are eyeing a title defense,” said SWU head coach Jordan Paca.
Paca added that they consider the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department (USC-BED) girls team that won the Milo Little Olympics title, as well as the SGVL-Central and Eastern Visayas Leg title, as their toughest contender for this year’s title.
“Lig-on karun ang USC girls, dili sila ka kompyansa-an,” said Paca.
Meanwhile, the game between SWU and CEC will be followed by a game between University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo De Cebu. ISL
