PFF nominates 5 Cebuanas for U16 team

FIVE Cebuanas have been called up to join the best Under-16 Girls footballers in the country in a training pool. They are Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu’s Arantxa Trebol, Pia Acusar and Itsuko Bacatan, and St. Theresa’s College’s Jan Rees Jumawan and Alexa Ceniza.

Trebol, Bacatan and Jumawan also made it to the National Under-14 team that finished second place in the AFC Under-14 Girls Regional Championship in June in Vietnam.

The five Cebuanas will be in a 30-player training pool which will be preparing to compete in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-16 Women’s Championship 2015 qualifiers in Melaka, Malaysia on Oct. 4 to 9.


The Philippines is in Group D with Myanmar, Chinese-Taipei and Cambodia.

The winner of the four groups will join Japan, North Korea, China and Thailand in the eight nation finals next year.
