Ateneo-A captures U12 title of San Roque footfest-A A +A

ATENEO-A never gave unbeaten University of San Carlos (USC)-BED-B a chance, scoring two early goals to grab the Boys Under-12 title with a 2-0 victory in the 10th San Roque Football Cup at the San Roque football grounds.
Winger Matthew Suico struck in just five minutes of regulation and then Ethan Deller added another to decide the match in just the first half.
USC-BED-B tried their best to score but they couldn’t break into Ateneo-A’s defense.
Ateneo-A finished at the top of Group C with nine points but they had three draws in the group stage.
USC-BED-B, on the other hand, was impressive, finishing the group stage with 12 points from an immaculate 4-0 slate.
Ateneo easily beat St. Joseph of Mactan-A, 2-0, in the quarterfinals before a hard-earned 1-0 penalty shootout win against Consolacion FC.
USC-BED-B, on the other hand, walked away with two nailbiters in the quarterfinals and in the finals.
USC-BED-B edged out USC-BED-A, 3-2, in the quarterfinals and then squeaked past Dynamo FC-B, 5-4, in penalty shootout.
Giuseppe FC bagged two titles in the opening day.
Giuseppe edged out Consolacion FC, 1-0, for the Players 6 diadem and Springdale, 2-0, on penalty shootout for the Players 10 trophy.
Dynamo FC snagged the Players 8 title with a convincing 4-0 victory over Giuseppe FC.
Today it will be the turn of the teams from the Men’s BPO, Men’s Company, 42-and-Above, Ladies Open and Boy Under-19 divisions.
This year's San Roque Football Cup is the biggest edition yet so far after drawing in a total of 210 teams. Last year's number of teams was 170.
After this weekend the annual football meet will continue next weekend. EKA
