USJ-R logs 2 wins in Shakey’s

REIGNING leg champion University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) won its first game against Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus (SHS-Hijas), 25-7, 25-5 in Pool A of the Central and Eastern Visayas Leg of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League Season 12 at the Aznar Coliseum.

USJR, which lost to Hope Christian School in the Champion’s league finals, hopes to retain its dominance and return to the national finals.

“I have faith in my team and I see a big chance that we will defend our title this year,” said USJR head coach Rolando Potot.


SHS-Hijas also lost to Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), 25-12,25-14.

Southwestern University (SWU) won two games in Pool B against Don Gerardo Ouano Memorial National High School, 25-15, 24-26, 25-4, and against Mary Help of Christians School, 25-10, 25-4.

Pajo National High School also remains perfect in Pool B after beating St. Theresa’s College (STC), 25-21,25-20 and Paref Southcrest School, 25-3,25-3.

The games will resume today at 8 a.m. with Mary Help of Christians School facing Don Gerardo Ouano Memorial National High School in the game opener.

The champion team in this tournament will advance to the champions league against other regional champions and four foreign teams from U.S., Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia.
