DEFENDING champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers will try to arrest a two-game losing slide when they play the dangerous University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the main game of the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball tournament today in the Cebu Coliseum.

The struggling Green Lancers will try to regain their winning stroke while the Jaguars will try to make it two in a row after suffering a heart-breaking loss in the opening day.

The Lancers lost to the University of San Carlos Warriors in overtime, 83-74, last week, then fell hard against the Southwestern University Cobras, 71-58, last Thursday.

This losses came at the heels of its season debut 67-60 loss to the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats and a overwhelming 91-46 win over the University of Cebu Webmasters in Aug. 5.

USJ-R meanwhile is fresh from a 73-59 win over CIT-U last Tuesday is looking to log its second victory of the season.

The Wildcats on the other hand, will be tested anew by the Warriors at the 4 p.m. game.

The hard lessons learned from the hands of the Jaguars would be very crucial entering into this match.

CIT-U is currently holding a 2-2 win-loss card, while the Warriors carry a 1-1 record.

In the high school hostilities, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (1-1) Baby Panthers will try to score their second win as they faces the winless Don Bosco Technological Center Greywolves (0-3) at 1 p.m. The CIT-U Wildkittens (1-2), on the other hand, will take on the UC Baby Webmasters (2-0).
