IT’S the moment of truth for the young and aspiring mixed-martial artists as they take the center stage in the first Cebu Extreme Fight League tonight at the Cebu Coliseum.

Lando “Alamid” Nacua of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu will be in the limelight as he fights French fighter Paul Carrere of Unified MMA in the bantamweight division. It will be the main event of the card dubbed “The Beginnings.”

“There is no turning back now; the ring will be my stage,” said the 24-year-old Nacua, a business management graduate of the University of San Carlos.

Nacua is facing a Muay Thai expert who has been training in jujitsu and ground techniques for a year now.

“Saturday night (tonight) will be a war between these two,” said Yaw-Yan ArDigma CEO and tournament director Master Benigno “Ekin” R. Caniga Jr. during the official weigh-in yesterday at the Yaw-Yan ArDigma headquarters.

Nacua and Carrere both tipped in at the 135-pound weight limit.

In the supporting main event, grappler Roy “Agilon” Bajar, a licensed chemical engineer from Yaw-Yan ArDigma, will try to outmuscle knockout artist and muscle-bound Niño Rio “Tatus” Saoy of Tatus Muay Thai and MMA.

“This is a fight between a grappler and a striker. Let’s see who will prevail in this fight,” said Cañiga.

In a special attraction match, Angel “Lawin” Sanchez of Yaw-Yan ArDigma, a registered nurse, trades her surgical gloves for a pair of fight gloves as she takes on Bridgette “Rising Warrior” Torbiso of Durex Kickboxing Club in the women’s category, while 10-year-old Ken “Cimaron” Caniga seeks to jumpstart his MMA career when he takes on Benedict “Little” Torbiso in the kids division.

The card will also feature Erving “Immortal” Mosico of My Gym Dumaguete against Jhonjier “Excalibor” Torbiso of Durex KBC; John “Little” Dulap of Project X against Ronilee “Black Bull” Castro of Tatus MMA; Earl “Texas” Surigao of Yaw-Yan ArDigma against Bryan “Heat” Otida of Arcomjukai KBC.
