SURPRISES continue as new faces took the boys and girls elementary lawn tennis titles of the 19th Milo Little Olympics Visayas Leg at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

Naga Elementary School netters, led by Vince Alforque, blanked, Cesar Kristofer Salimbangon and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 3-0, while Danao City Central School routed Naga ES, 2-1.

“It’s a welcome development in the tennis community because we have new faces and new talents,” said tournament manager Fritz Tabura.

Former age group player Sally Mae Siso, who is now an official, said she is overwhelmed that the sport is growing and seeing new winners is a welcome development.

“All I can say is that nice kaayo paminawon nga daghan na players gyud ron from other schools nga ni participate and they are all competitive players,” said Siso.

In the secondary lawn tennis, the semifinals matches will be played this Saturday at the Citigreen Tennis Center in Labangon. Defending champion University of San Carlos will take on Naga National High School, while UV will face UC.

USC is composed of Christopher Encarnacion, Jermaine Laurel, Francis Lambayan, Francis Navales and Charlemagne Cabarrubias.
