USC to ride on momentum in finals match-A A +A

MOMENTUM is on the side of the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors coming into their finals clash with Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles today in the elementary division of the basketball tournament of the 19th Milo Little Olympics at the Magis Eagles Arena following an epic semifinals performance.
The towering USC elementary squad posted an extraordinary 120-point victory over Cebu Eastern College (CEC), 139-19, in the semifinals last weekend.
“Yes that was our biggest (win). All I can say is that in our semis game we played well in terms of our defense. We didn’t do anything but just defend until the end and the offense will follow,” USC coach Vernini Tangarorang told Sun.Star Cebu.
The core of Tangarorang’s USC elementary team is mainly the same with the SBP team that they are fielding in the ongoing Milo Best tournament. USC is the defending champions of the Milo Best tournament and is currently unbeaten.
Although USC is a dominant force in the elementary division, Tangarorang still isn’t taking SHS-AdC lightly.
“If the kids show the same effort and aggressiveness in terms of defense, then there shouldn’t be any reason that we will lose. But still, we don’t know the outcome, only God knows (what will happen). We will just have a little adjustment on our defense,” said Tangarorang.
In the elimination round, USC massacred Danao City Central School, 126-13, and SACS, 109-18. They averaged by a winning margin of 108 points in the Milo Olympics.
Even though the odds are stacked against them, SHS-AdC coach Kiboy Tan isn’t waving the white flag just yet and encouraged his team to go out fighting.
